Using Solid Coloured Backgrounds on your Site

Alternative and creative. Site must be viewed at 1024 X 1168 resolution.
Below is a really fun page of colour chips, or really splats, which if clicked in the center area, will fill the colour of the background of this page. Gauge your reactions and click away.

Clicking on the coloured background will return the white page. You will note that when using color, you must proactively chose a contrasting font colour, so that your text will show up.

The first couple of columns contain pastel colours which have a lot of white or light in them. The colours in the last column are known as tones and are very opaque, containing very little light.

This paragraph, in black text should show well against the mid to light tones, but will almost disappear against a dark background. Practically speaking the pastels and midtones are the best to use in a website. The colour you chose should be well researched and have to echo the purpose of your site. For instance, the marines, obviously, wouldn't have a pink site and a funeral home wouldn't have a yellow site. But either of those colours would work for a children's site. This paragraph will illustrate that the darker tonal background values, need to utilize a light font colour and it will also show well with the midtones. Conversely this text will not show well on the lighter background colours.
